Leppävaara swimming hall, located in Espoo, was built in 1969 and designed by architect Osmo Lappo. The renovation and extension of the swimming hall began in the end of 2013 and the swimming hall was opened for public in January 2016. In addition to the renovation of the building, a new lido, sports fields and a playground were built next to the swimming hall.
The renovation and extension of Leppävaara swimming hall were designed by Pöyry. The aim of the project was to maintain and highlight the original architecture as much as possible. The large extension was designed to match the existing building and the materials were chosen accordingly.
We photographed the interiors of the swimming hall last year for Pöyry. This summer we went back to photograph the building and the outdoor areas for Muotolevy whose façade panels were used in the building.
